The Warehouse Operations course provides a full spectrum of training in the various tasks and procedures carried out in a warehouse. It emphasizes the importance of accuracy, efficiency and safety, as students learn how their work contributes to the overall product flow. With a combination of classroom instruction and warehouse activities, students receive hands-on training and a real view of what skills employers are looking for.
Prerequisites
In order to benefit from the Warehouse Operations course, students must possess a minimum sixth-grade skill level in reading comprehension and mathematics. Students must also be 18 years of age upon the completion of the program.
Course Description
The course is taught within a fully operating warehouse where students complete the tasks of Material Handler, Inventory Control, Packaging, and Shipping/Receiving. They also receive a Forklift Certification, and learn the fundamental computer skills necessary to perform common operations within a warehouse.
Course Objectives
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
* Properly operate a forklift
* Understand the flow of product in and out of the warehouse
* Accurately pick and order products
* Perform basic math functions needed in entry level warehouse positions
* Perform basic functions in MS Word, MS Excel and MS Outlook
* Utilize safe warehouse practices, and abide by safety regulations
