As the Program Manager for the OSERS Grant Goodwill Silicon Valley, I just wanted to say how much I enjoy the enthusiasm of the teachers and our Goodwill Counselors who have been involved in the implementation of the enrichment services. I have had the pleasure of teaching both a cooking and a dance class here at GW and have seen the total joy of the students as they embrace the new experiences. Everyone happily participates in dancing and they are learning how to make nutritious meals. We will be continuing our Independent Living Skills Classes during the summer and are discussing ideas for Fall Classes. We are planning for a field trip this summer to Filoli Gardens additionally, we are looking at dates for an ice cream social and BBQ lunch. Please keep checking our Bulletin Board for current events and newsletters for current activities.

Goals and Objectives:

high-jump OSERS RAISING THE BAR

Vision Statement
To provide 50 youth and adults with disabilities recreational activities and related experiences to aid in their employment, mobility, socialization, independence and community integration with the vision of moving towards more comprehensive and self sustained programs for a better quality of life.

Students are working on a mural art project which employs the skills of planning ahead and working together as a team. The project also serves to give form to create a method of expression for those students who are primarily non-verbal. Additionally, the movable art project which will be designed on panels will be displayed at various community sites. This creation will promote OSERS and Goodwill SV enrichment programs inviting participation from others who might not be able to contribute time or services. Student's artwork and photography is available as prints, Tshirts, mugs and other items to be purchased on our cafepress website: www.cafepress.com/ourgoodart.
Proceeds support youth enrichment and employment programs.

So far this year we have attended a drumming workshop as a field trip in partnership with Opera Piccola. They also provided us with a cultural folktale performance on April 20, '07, 160 students along with teachers attended. All enjoyed a free box lunch. The Spring Dance at Goodwill, complete with a club D.J. was a tremendous success. Lunch was provided at no charge.
