New Opportunity Work Program
The NOW Program is funded by the Santa Clara County Office of Re-Entry and the California Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections. The NOW program exclusively serves the re-entry population and is designed to reduce recidivism and alleviate the burden on Santa Clara County’s jails and court systems.
The program was launched in 2013 and equips program participants with the necessary tools to navigate the difficult transition into mainstream and full-time employment. Upon enrolling into the NOW Program, participants are placed into 90 days of part-time employment. Program participants are employed into a variety of jobs within the Goodwill of Silicon Valley business operation. Typical job placements include warehouse, manufacturing, assembly, administrative, maintenance, IT, and auto detailing, just to name a few.
In addition to the “On the Job” training program participants also receive services in resume preparation, job interview techniques, transportation assistance, Moral Reconditioning Therapy plus motivation and support. The program is designed so that upon completion of 90 days of part time employment, program participants transition onto full-time employment with Santa Clara County companies.
The program has achieved exceptional results with 70% of all program participants obtaining full-time permanent employment.
