Goodwill

Financial Giving

Your investment in Goodwill of Silicon Valley stays in our community, strengthening the skills and adding to the value and professionalism of the Silicon Valley workforce. Financial contributions go directly to our Institute for Career Development (ICD), a private, post-secondary vocational school with a daily capacity of 132 students and a full range of support services. The school specializes in training the disadvantaged for a wide range of vocational opportunities in job markets throughout Silicon Valley.

Our ICD provides people with the qualifications they need to overcome barriers to employment. We also provide a professional placement services that assist our clients in identifying job opportunities for which they are qualified. Our ICD achieves these objectives through programs in vocational evaluation, vocational skills training, basic education, counseling and other career services.

Over the past 10 years, Goodwill trained and placed over 2,200 individuals at work throughout Silicon Valley. During their first year of employment, these Goodwill graduates earned over $42.6 million, based on entry-level salaries. Because they were employed, welfare, social security, and workers’ compensation payments were reduced by more than $6.4 million.

Goodwill’s overall vocational rehabilitation programs are accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). All vocational training courses are licensed by the Council for Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education.
