ASSETs Program Description

The Goodwill ASSETs Program is designed to support students in graduating from high school through an array of intensive interventions. This program will address the special needs of youth at risk for academic failure. The ASSETs curicullum is comprised of a mixture of academic, enrichment, cultural, work and recreational activities linked to high expectations and clear standards.

Unlike many after school programs for secondary students, the Goodwill ASSETs Program will serve students five days per week between the hours of 1:00 and 5:00 p.m. for the entire academic year.

Students and their families will work closely with a Case Manager, designing and carrying out individualized plans. Additionally, the Goodwill ASSETs Program -- with small group coaching and a low student to Job Coach ration of 5:1 -- will provide students with individualized attention to help overcome employment barriers. All students will be given benchmarks toward creating better study habits and achieving employment standards that prepare them for high school graduation and long-term employability.

ASSETs Program Provides Extended Learning Opportunities

There is small group tutoring as well as individualized tutoring occurring on an as-needed basis.

Complementary Enrichment Component

Students in the ASSETs Program will be engaged in learning core academic subjects through the lens of career education and job readiness.

Graduation Goals

Each student will work with his/her Case Manager to create an individualized school-to-career plan, with graduation from high school as a shared element of each plan.

Career Education
